Mgr, Account Recon

FT/PT:  Full-Time

Provide support and direction to the Account Reconciliation staff, in addition to performing the duties of an Account Reconciliation Clerk.  Oversee the reconciliations relating to the identified branch, deposit and general ledger accounts.



  • Business/Bachelor’s degree in Business preferred
  • Strong background in accounting principles required
  • Prior experience with bank reconcilement required
  • Prior supervisory and/or coaching experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, verbal and written skills with the ability to effectively interface with the staff, internal business clients, operations teams and internal audit
  • Self-starter with an ability to manage multiple tasks/projects
  • Ability to identify, problem solve and exercise the use of good judgment with respect to issues/circumstances as they arise
  • Excellent time and organizational management skills
  • Ability to prioritize projects and delegate tasks appropriately to staff
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage staff to provide quality services
  • Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills with the ability to make independent decisions based on researched conclusions
  • Assist in Special Projects such as system conversions and/or bank acquisitions
  • Participate in the Targeted Selection interview process for potential new hires
  • Highly proficient in utilizing FIS, Windows 10, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook
  • Strong understanding of Federal Banking regulations and Federal Reserve rules, as well as Bank policy as it related to Deposit Operations required
  • Position may require the need to travel to other branch or meeting locations.



  • Provide problem resolution support to the Account Reconciliation staff
  • Supervise the daily preparation and completion of detailed reconciliations relating to identified branch, deposit and general ledger accounts
  • Hold regular coaching sessions with staff, including time for career development
  • Facilitate and supervise requests from auditors, Financial Planning, Financial Reporting, regulators and Tax
  • Work with all areas of the Bank to ensure all outstanding reconciliation items are cleared timely to ensure there is no financial loss to the Bank
  • Oversee the clearance of items from these reconciliations and recommend procedural enhancements, as appropriate, to minimize or eliminate the daily volume of outstanding exception entries
  • Manage the staff workflow, including the maintenance and completion of the department’s monthly checklist
  • Serve as a liaison with other functional units within the bank, as well as with third party vendors, to ensure an efficient and accurate workflow is maintained
  • Responsible for providing routine coaching to staff, establishing employee goals and compiling employee reviews
  • Develop/maintain tracking of data relating to daily volumes of outstanding entries, performance standards and performance to plan
  • Assist department manager in compiling and implementing project plans relative to the Account Reconciliation functions
  • Facilitate the education and training process relating to new equipment, new/revised processes and procedures
  • Identify methods of improving both functional and departmental efficiencies that contribute to improved delivery of quality service and have potential to reduce expenses
  • Facilitate the compiling of annual plans and budgetary needs
  • Administer financial record retention controls relative to account reconciliations
  • Perform all duties with respect for confidentiality of employee and client confidentiality
  • Enforce regulatory compliance to policies and procedures relating to federal banking regulations and the Federal Reserve, as well as First Midwest Bank
  • Perform other duties, tasks and projects as assigned by the department manager
