Senior Counsel

FT/PT:  Full-Time

Serve as lead attarney supporting HR department on various employment matters and Procurement department on drafting and negotiating third-party vendor contracts. Support the needs of the Legal Department generally as necessary to support business partenrs.



  • Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school and a licensed attorney in good standing with the Bar of the State of Illinois.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience at a major law firm and/or in-house legal department.
  • Experience handling employment/HR legal issues, including advising the HR department on various employment/HR matters.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating third-party vendor contracts.
  • Ability to apply sound and practical business judgment to legal matters.
  • Ability to consult with and advise management at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously, with a strong ability to prioritize, organize and work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments.
  • Willingness to handle all types of legal matters as required to support the needs of the Legal Department and its business partners.



  • Knowledge of federal and/or Illinois banking laws and regulations, including consumer laws and regulations.
  • In-house legal experience for a financial institution.
  • Experience working with federal and state bank regulatory agencies.
  • Experience drafting and reviewing loan documents.


  • Advising HR department on various employment/HR issues and matters.
  • Reviewing and negotiating third-party vendor contracts.
  • Partnering with procurement and other business teams on streamlining contract review and execution processes and templates.
  • Advising and working with various business teams on a variety of legal matters as necessary.
  • Interacting with regulatory agencies on various types of matters.
  • Serving as a strategic legal partner to First Midwest’s business teams.
