This position provides paralegal services with emphasis on the following responsibilities: (1) legal mail, (2) litigation support, and (3) general banking matters.



•    Bachelor’s Degree, Paralegal Certification or equivalent work experience required.
•    Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a corporate and/or litigation paralegal.
•    Familiar with public record research to review chain of title issues.
•    Knowledge of building code violations, eminent domain/takings, mechanic’s liens, take notices/tax sales, garnishment/citation orders, subpoenas, foreclosure actions and land trust matters a plus.
•    Ability to work independently, efficiently and multi-task matters to resolution.
•    Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
•    Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
•    Experience with financial institutions is desirable but not required.

Legal Mail and Litigation Support
•    Review, research, process and route legal mail matters to resolution; as well as coordinate with internal departments to determine bank’s interest in the underlying legal notification and to seek proper and timely resolution.
•    Engage and work with outside counsel in the handling and disposition of building code violations, mechanic’s lien matters and IDOT/eminent domain lawsuits; docket and monitor court status hearings with pending litigation and provide updates to the Legal Department and internal line of business until fully resolved.
•    Prepare litigation hold notices; coordinate and track internal acknowledgments.
•    Assist with production of documentation as needed in connection with litigation.
•    May assist with coordinating insurance carrier notices and response tracking.

General Banking Support

•    Assist with maintenance of commercial loan documentation templates.
•    Monitor renewal dates of annual reports and other filings for equipment financing subsidiary.
•    Provide intake support for insurance certificate requests and coordination with the bank’s insurance consultant.
•    Other matters as needed, including special projects from time to time.
