Talent Development Instructional Designer

FT/PT:  Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Instructional Designer is part of a team of HR professionals supporting over 2,000 colleagues, and is responsible for assessing, designing and developing learning company-wide.  The Instructional Designer will act as a consultative partner with business leaders to determine specific learning needs and create innovative learning solutions for technical and professional trainings.  This is an ideal role for a high performer to influence change and provide thought leadership to further elevate First Midwest’s learning culture.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

    Bachelor’s degree in Adult Learning Theory, Instructional Design or equivalent preferred
    Minimum 5+ years designing learning solutions and curricula plans.
    Understanding of adult learning principles and sound instructional design methodologies including eLearning technical standards (SCORM) and classroom design. 

       Ability to independently design and develop instructionally sound training required. 

    Knowledge of technical learning authoring tools such as Articulate, Captivate, Adobe Photoshop, Camtasia, iSpring, MS Suite.  

    Exceptional communication skills required

    Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with key organizational stakeholders 

    Project management experience with the ability to prioritize, manage and complete multiple projects with tight deadlines and move a project forward to completion within specified timeframes

    Demonstrated ability to set direction and execute upon a vision

    Must demonstrate adaptability, flexibility and a positive orientation to change

      The ability to organize, develop, and deliver content to enhance transfer of online training by: 

              -  Use of graphic design applications to develop visually appealing and engaging eLearning solutions 

               - Ensuring knowledge of key concepts through interaction for kinesthetic learners 

               - Incorporating sound for auditory learners 

               - Arranging content “logically” to ensure clarity and comprehensiveness 

    Instructional Design skills that encompass the ability to create and develop training from experience and/or work with subject matter experts to extract applicable information with little supervision. 

    Experience in video and audio editing and a clear speaking voice for the recording of audio narration required

    Ability to facilitate training sessions and deliver course content

    Prior experience in a banking or financial services environment preferred

    Position may require the need to travel to other branch or meeting locations in Chicago land

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assess learning needs, design, develop, evaluate and maintain training material 
    Apply appropriate adult learning methods to best accommodate learner needs
    Actively seek and recommend improvements in process and content to better identify and meet organizational, client, and departmental goals
    Increase training program value to the learner and organization 
    Establish and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, subject matter experts, and vendors to design/revise training content as required, ensure quality facilitation and alignment with organizational strategies and goals
    Ensure knowledge transfer and quality delivery of all courses by measuring training effectiveness/ROI and address specific feedback to revise content as needed
    Manage training related to corporate initiatives to meet projects goals, including deadlines and that training is accurate, consistent and delivered within prescribed protocols
    Maintain and continually expand knowledge of new learning approaches, technologies and tools through ongoing research and experimentation.
    Facilitate training, deliver course content
