Head of Asset Based Lending (ABL) Group

FT/PT:  Full-Time

First Midwest Bank (“First Midwest”, or the “Bank”) is seeking an Asset Based Lending Group Head, who will be responsible for all aspects of developing and advancing First Midwest’s ABL Group.  Responsibilities will include driving new business development, deepening relationships with existing clients, and managing the ABL team (business development, underwriting and portfolio management).  Further, we are looking for a motivated and reputable business leader who will attract talent from the industry and build a rapport across First Midwest’s Bankers and Credit Partners.  


    Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field
    Master’s of Business Administration Degree preferred
    Minimum 15+ years asset based lending experience
    Business Development and/or Divisional management experience 
    Strong team building and interpersonal skills
    Integrity, Motivation and Humility
    Thorough knowledge of the ABL marketplace and Federal and State regulations covering ABL activities
    Strong analytical ability with effective written and verbal communication skills


    Actively engage with the Bank’s leadership team to establish and provide support for the ABL business strategy, target market and operating model to most effectively achieve goals and objectives
    Work with Credit Partners to review and update ABL Credit Policy
    Directly manage business development, underwriting, portfolio management and ABL operations team members; ensuring that they are trained, motivated and properly supported to achieve business goals and objectives
    Regularly update Bank Leadership on progress towards annual and strategic goals, as well as prevailing market dynamics and trends
    In line with the business strategy, seek out talent to build the team as the portfolio expands.
    Visit all clients and, when appropriate, prospects, and maintain and active presence in the ABL ecosphere of referral sources and other Agent banks
    Position will require the need to travel to prospects, clients and/or other bank offices
    Involvement in various community activities and organizations to enhance the reputation of the Bank
    Participate in all required compliance training sessions
